I really enjoy this “novelette,” and Summer Doyle’s narration makes it even more fun. Their voice draws you in, creating a sweet tone that turns bright and sparkly, and then warm and lush, as the characters meet, flirt, and get steamy. The erotic parts are so well paced and expressed, but it’s the smooth and subtle build through inner monologues—the protagonist’s weary cynicism to a pleased fizz— that’s especially brilliant in the narration.
