This title uses virtual voice narration
Virtual voice is computer-generated narration for audiobooks.
Lyra Wolford finally finds the one man she knows she can trust. Unfortunately, falling in love is not an option. She has too many secrets, far too many secrets. If what she knows doesn't kill her, it will definitely kill Abe. Unwilling to risk that, she has to find help another way. Little does she know that all help leads home. Not her home, but Abe's. Belle Fleur.
When I downloaded the Kindle version of this book it suggested purchasing the audio version for $1.99. I was so excited! I prefer listening to audiobooks, so having the author create each of the books in audio form has been my wish for a while. I love that the books are finally being published in audio versions, but l’m not a fan of Virtual Voice. This is the first book I’ve listened to with Virtual Voice narrating.
Once I got into the book, the narration wasn’t as bad as I initially thought when listening to the sample. If I had gone by the sample alone, I wouldn’t have listened to the book. The book is currently included in my plan for no additional charge, so I was able to temporarily download the audiobook for free.
While the narration is much better than listening to my phone read an electronic book, it’s still missing the performance that a voice actor supplies. There was some inflection, which surprised me, but it didn’t match the scene or sentence at times, and of course there were no individual voices used.
Overall I would say if you aren’t able to read the Kindle version, or that the audio version is much more convenient for you, then this is worth it. Especially if it’s included in your plan, or only $1.99. I personally would not buy this if it were a higher (or normal for Audible) amount.
Great Book and Series, but I’m not a fan of Virtual Voice
