A gripping novel of destiny and true love by best-selling and award-winning author Sheila Kell.

What happens when his destiny leads him into the arms of the woman he doesn’t think he deserves? In Sheila’s passionate novel of distrust and desire, heartbreak and danger…and the heat of possibility connects a damaged man and a broken woman.

Trent McKenzie leaves town, running from the pain eating at his soul. He returns only when he learns his close friend may be in danger. Needing to protect her and unravel the danger she’s in, Trent and Kelly embark on a trip searching for answers. They just need to prepare to discover that sometimes destiny doesn’t always play fair.

HIS Destiny is an intense, emotionally charged romantic suspense that answers many questions and creates plenty of new ones. This fifth installment in the HIS series gives us Trent’s story, and it is a doozy. His world was rocked in major ways in an earlier book in the series, and my heart bled for him as he suffered through from survivor’s guilt, horrendous scarring, and his family foundation charges. I’ve been patiently waiting for his healing to take place, and author Sheila Kell delivers it beautifully, moment by moment, while weaving in danger, suspense, drama, action, and all the feels. Trent’s best friend Kelly is a tenacious investigative journalist who really fumbled her personal life and refuses to acknowledge so many different things. Watching her navigate her feelings for Trent while denying the danger she is in is by turns frustrating, funny, and flummoxing. I adored supporting character Mike and the cameos from the rest of the Hamilton brood sprinkled throughout, and the ending really packs a punch!

The narrator does a good job of carrying the momentum as he performs the various roles and scenes. His voice is easy to listen to, and his delivery is mostly smooth. He changes inflection with each character so it’s easy to track conversations, and he carries the energy woven into the pages fairly well. Overall an enjoyable experience!
