This novella is playful, fast-paced, and perfectly in tune with the holiday theme. Muriel’s innocence and sexual naïveté can be frustrating at times, but Nick’s confident charm—and the sizzling chemistry between them—make up for it.

The real highlight of this audiobook is Ines Johnson herself. As the narrator, she brings humor, warmth, and sensual energy to the story, elevating it beyond the written page. Her performance alone earns this story an extra star.

This was not spicy enough for the erotica label and didn’t have enough story for the romance label. This could have benefited from duet narration for his parts. Finally, the “knotty” in the title was wasted on a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it mention of bondage play.
