I have starved for as long as I have been sentient.
Collecting soul after soul, I fed. I gorged.
Then he arrived, and suddenly, I understood what it truly meant to feel.
Jealousy. Greed. Obsession.
It tasted like him.
Intoxicating. Addicting.
I had to have my fill of him. Control him. Keep him.
And I did. And we were happy.
Trapped. But happy.
Until she arrived.
Her soul replete with mortal toil.
And I knew. I knew.
She is the one for him.
My most magnanimous gift to him.
She is to become his inamorata and give herself entirely to us.
Now she is ours.
Because no one escapes the Ambrose Hotel.
And no one escapes me.

The house is alive?? Haunted?? One man trapped for all eternity desperate for touch ... who has stolen this from him??

Lonely girl packs up to start anew ... but ends up in a one way ticket to forever with a dark figure or maybe her boss??!! 🤔

So I have mixed feelings about this novella. Fast paced, you can't stray or you will get lost
... but I enjoyed it ... my only irk was the nickname 😆 for it being a spooky themed book "dreamgirl" didn't suit for me

Genuinely and equally confused and intrigued by this. It was good but also yet completely…..what the heck did I just read sort of thing? I knew where we were going with the story from the beginning (call it the auDHD I can spot an ending a mile away) however, a lot of the lead up left me with more questions than not. I won’t ask them here because maybe I just didn’t understand them and they are spoilers but I do think the general premise was intriguing albeit muddled. I would absolutely give another installment a go though. The audio was done exceptionally well though. This is my first from both narrators and I was blown away by both. I really enjoyed the dynamic they brought to each of their characters. All in all, 3.25/5 stars. Very different, but I couldn’t decide if it was good or bad different.

3.25/5 stars!!

2025: I just did a re-read of this via ALC audiobook, and I couldn’t recommend it enough. The duet narration was spot on and I was plunged into this world from the first few words. Something about hearing all the twists and turns of this story took it to a new level.

Hi, it’s me again. Shamelessly begging you to read another one of Naomi’s books so I have more people to talk to about them.

Naomi’s writing is addictive and this story is so unique. This book is a definite page turner && will keep you on the edge of your seat while you slowly lose your mind alongside the characters.

This is THE perfect spooky little novella! Despite being a shortie, it doesn’t feel rushed at all and was just what I needed 🖤

Mania is the first audiobook in Naomi Loud’s Fever Dreams Collection, and I honestly cannot think of a more apt title for this series. This novella was a delicious little spooky snack that absolutely put me in mind of a fever dream, and I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish! The pacing in this short story was perfect, which is not always easy with a novella. It flowed perfectly, even when the story switched between past and present scenes. And Naomi Loud keeps you guessing right up to the end. Just when you think you’ve got it figured out, you get thrown for a loop again. I am seriously obsessed with this audio! It’s kind of like a fabulous, super-spicy combination of AHS: Hotel, The Shining, and Hotel California, all performed to perfection by the incredible narration duo of Raven Wildewood and Scott Rose. Their duet-style narration of this story was seriously flawless. They both had me squirming on the edge of my seat (for sometimes very different reasons) and made me feel like I was experiencing the story right along with them. Raven Wildewood’s emotional portrayal of Maeve was spot on, making me truly FEEL all of the character’s panic, her confusion, her terror, her outrage, and her passion. Special shout-out for also flawlessly voicing the calculating, sinister demon/spirit of the hotel. And Scott Rose, who is fast becoming one of my favorite male narrators, was everything I could have wanted for the character of Hazel. He absolutely made Hazel real for me with his impassioned portrayal, effortlessly bringing through all of the angst, longing, obsession, and fragile hope of this compelling character. Naomi Loud’s fabulously haunting words brought to life by Raven Wildewood and Scott Rose make this the perfect addition to the spooky season (or any season) for any fan of dark, paranormal romance audio!

This was a quick and interesting paranormal romance that had me intrigued from the start. The narration for this was very well done and performed. I did enjoy the story and the spice, and even the unconventional HEA. This is the perfect spooky season quick read/listen. For being as short as it was it was well thought out and executed.

Quickie but goodie
