The day couldn’t get much worse. It was rent day, yet there Ray stood, looking at the empty envelope. He always put the money in the bank and sent his payment in electronically. There had never been a problem before, but no, he decided to pay in cash this month because his tips had been so good. That was the problem - the money looked too good for somebody.

What was worse was that somebody Ray worked with had to have been the one who took the money out of the envelope that was locked in his locker. Who had the combination to his lock? Ray couldn’t worry about that right now. He had to talk to his landlord. Robert was a fairly reasonable guy. Ray had been his tenant for over two years now and had always paid his rent on time. Surely he would give him a couple of days to get the money together. He just need to check is bank account and see if he had enough there, and then transfer it over. It would only take a couple of days to get to Robert.

Right after work, Ray marched to his landlord's house and talked to him. Told him what had happened, and that he was working on getting the money to him. He would certainly have it to him in just a few days. That wasn’t good enough. Robert wanted payment today, but he assured Ray that he would be able to make his payment that day. Confused, Ray asked, “How?” Oh, Robert had an idea. It was an idea that Robert had wanted to suggest for a long time. It was better than money in his book.

What did Robert have in mind for Ray?
