Across the world, women are taking over. They’re seizing power. It happens in business, politics, and at home. In the United States, Michael has been mostly shielded from the transition. Yes, the President has issued a new set of executive orders, but she can't rewrite the Constitution on her own. There are still checks and balances that allow males like Michael to work, vote, and retain some of his independence.
Maybe that's why he underestimates how difficult this trip will be. In fact, he actually volunteers to leave the United States for his job, probably because he’s hoping to impress his boss. Maybe she’ll give him a promotion after this.
Throughout his life, Michael has watched as the patriarchy has been chipped away. More and more, men find themselves in subordinate positions. Even so, he can remember what it used to be like when the vast majority of politicians were male. Back then, men had an almost exclusive monopoly on power. Sure, the feminists loved to argue and bicker, but they were right about one thing: men ruled.
That’s all over, but it’s hard for men like Michael to really comprehend what this means.
Once he leaves the United States, he's going to see a new world, one where boys are routinely collared and leashed. More importantly, they can be casually punished. Even if they didn't do anything wrong, it's so easy for a girl in a superior position to discipline the boys around her.
Of course, it's not just a question of "discipline". In many cases, men are actually enslaved. Considering his background, it's hard for Michael to believe, yet it’s true, and he's going to witness it for himself. There are men who are completely owned.
Worse, some men are treated like animals. And if Michael isn’t careful, he could end up in a bit and bridle. He might feel the harness tight around his torso. He could lose access to his hands as his fingers are bound by restrictive gloves and sleeves. He could feel the heavy boots around his legs, giving him an equine stride...all for his new owner...whoever she might be.
