Sometimes (okay, most times) stories like this come off cheesy, but this is an exception. Although I'm giving five stars, it's more like 4 and a half in all categories--for matters of nuance in regard to the narration and pacing in regard to the story. But that's just me, and I am stingy when it comes to declarations of perfection.
