I was enjoying this southern romantic suspense novel up right until Alabama-raised Mac stated that he wished for the kinder and gentler times of 200+ years ago. Seriously?

Mac went on and on about this amazing ancestors who build their plantation in the early 1800s, skipping right over the part that his family only grew rich due to slave labor. Mac also kept referring to his black servants as part of the family, without acknowledging that his ancestors actually owned their ancestors.

While I realize that this is not a documentary on southern American history, I expected some basic turths, not a complete white washing regarding the harsh realities of slavery. For people of color during the 1700s and 1800s in Alabama, life was anything but kind and gentle.

Absolutely loved this book! Stayed up all night to finish it because I could not put it down. Beautiful romance with a little bit of suspense thrown in. I highly recommend this book.

Love this book and the rest of the series. I read the ebook a while ago and had to get the audible when it was available. The audible book brings the characters to life.

I got this book free I believe on a stuff your kindle day. What an extraordinary book. I also purchased the audiobook version and after the first book, I purchased the next 9 with audiobooks when available. The 10th isn’t available and I hope it will be when I get there. Definitely a fan.

I got 2 chapters in, and instantly looked up to see if they had more books in a series. And yes they do! It’s absolutely amazing I love this story line. Made me feel like I was listening to a favorite movie and picturing it scene by scene in my head. Definitely listening to the rest of the series!!
