This is the first book in the XXX Maxim Series. Wow! Maxim and Frankie's story is dark, intense, raw, and brutal. Maxim is ruthless, alpha, dominant, and a sadistic mafia billionaire. Frankie is an intriguing character, masochistic, strong, and determined. This story is darker than what I have read before. Zara Eden did an amazing job with the narration. Looking forward to listen to the next book in the Series! If you like Dark Romance, this one is definitely for you.

Zara Edens performance is award worthy, she. carries this entire story by herself with many voices and accents... BRAVO!!

This is only the first book in what looks to be one dark and twisted ride. If you are the type of reader/listener that is looking for warmth, sweetness and cuddles; my advice is for you to keep looking. This is definitely not the book for you. However, if you enjoy books that embrace the darkness and everything that can entail, this book is exactly what you've been craving. This story offers wickedly sharp edges, a raw grittiness and a viciously harsh reality. Maxim and Frankie are both so incredibly broken. If you are anything like me, your heart will cry and ache for them. The attraction and chemistry is intensely powerful and scorching hot!! This totally consuming tale will leave you wondering if love and affection will be their salvation or lead to their ultimate destruction. A sinfully enticing read that will have you needing that next book ASAP!. I found the narrators voice pleasing and their performance very well done.

This is my first book by Lana Sky. I’ve listened to a lot of BDSM books and this is my first true Sadomasochistic (Sadist Dom / Masochist Sub) book. It’s so good and deliciously dark.
This is also my first listen to narrator Zara Eden. She’s amazing and can do male voices and accents so sexily perfect. I can’t wait for the rest of the series to release on audible.

This book was really something else but so good. If you are looking for something really dark, this is it. I have read some books that claim to be dark, but really were not. I was fully invested in this book from the beginning to the end. Frankie is struggling to pay the rent, keep food on the table, and care for her siblings. Her mother is a no good loser. She works at Penney’s, at a diner, and is also a prostitute. Her pimp gives her a card to meet Maxim. Since she really needs the money, she accepts. Wow is all I can say about what he expects of her. During Maxim’s first meeting with Frankie, he gives her $1,000. She was to get her affairs in order, then stay with him initially three days and eventually five days a week. Frankie goes out and buys things for the kids and was so dumb, she let the kids think their mother bought the gifts. She used the money Maxim gave her for them and she did not correct them.

There is a restaurant scene that was something else. People in the restaurant acted like nothing was going on. Maxim is one sick b@stard but I think Frankie is just as bad. He wants her to sign a contract to be with him. In the restaurant, he has her fully read the contract and give him her safe word all while she is spread-eagle across his lap and nude from the waist down. If she uses the safe word, it is all over. At his place, she has her own room because she needs to be available to him at all times. Maxim wants to hurt Frankie but will pay her handsomely to it. As dark romance goes, this was extremely dark and does not disappoint. A lot happens in this book. Unfortunately, there are two additional books to this story and neither of those are on Audible yet.

Zara Eden did a great job with the narration. I received this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
