From bestselling author Anne Rice, writing as A.N. Roquleaure. In the traditional folktale of 'Sleeping Beauty,' the spell cast upon the lovely young princess and everyone in her castle can only be broken by the kiss of a Prince. It is an ancient story, one that originally emerged from and still deeply disturbs the mind's unconscious. Now Anne Rice's retelling of the Beauty story probes the unspoken implications of this lush, suggestive tale by exploring its undeniable connection to sexual desire. Here the Prince reawakens Beauty, not with a kiss, but with sexual initiation. His reward for ending the hundred years of enchantment is Beauty's complete and total enslavement to him…as Anne Rice explores the world of erotic yearning and fantasy in a classic that becomes, with her skillful pen, a compelling experience.

The book started off good but then just fell into a routine. Nubile captive is taken to this room where she is spanked and humiliated. Then taken off to meet this person...where she is spanked. Goes to her room to sleep but not before she is spanked. Next day taken outside where a woman on a horse chases her around with a long paddle and, you guessed it, spanks her some more.

It's just not hot.

Got boring quickly - too much spanking

We all know our fairytales- from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves to Beauty and the Beast- which is why it's so hard for modern writers to get past that invisible barrier of rewriting them. I'd say Anne Rice completed a very challenging task, and I admire her courage as a writer for that. But I think I'd stick to vampires in the future!

A very unlikely prince

Based on recommendations online, I downloaded this book. It was uh, oh, what’s the word I’m looking for… awful. I had started listening to it and actually stopped soon after. I have endured some pretty horrible audiobooks but I found something better to listen to. Well, I decided to give it another try and finished it this time.

So I’m not at all into BDSM in my real life but I sure as heck love “reading/listening” about it. But good heavens, all the spanking drove me crazy. There are 2 more books so I guess If I have nothing else to listen to maybe I can hope the story gets better?

I wouldn't waste a good credit though...

I guess is you have nothing else...

I was unsure about getting an abridged novel I do not think i will be getting any more any time soon! I feel I wasted my credit with this one. I didnt realize before I purchased this one that it was only 4 hours long. I will not be continuing the series. For being a bondage series I thought this was going to be way hotter. it was like the author thinks the only aspect of bonage is spanking and humility...there is so much more to it than spanking. This book wasnt very sexy and hoped for a lot more than it was. completly disappointed.

not a spanking good time

This is not a book for the easily blushed. The story is dark but keeps moving. You can understand the transformation of it's characters to who they become and how they become that way. I found that more interesting then the erotica. Well written.
