This is the first of four. I liked the first book, but was unsettled by the ending. Did not realize that the books were continuations until I started them out of sequence and recognized the names.

The plot lacked depth of character for Eleanor, Nathaniel, and Thomas. It didn’t make any sense how the story ended, leaving his child alone in the manner to be raised by the housekeeper. The narration was too fast with lack of pauses in the appropriate places. Some of the words had the incorrect inflection.
