Haley had always been very close to Matt and Shawn, her two hunky cousins that she'd met in grade school. They'd always been very protective of her, happily giving a black eye to any man that would have the audacity to break her heart.

Haley sometimes thought of them in a more torrid way, sure, but she'd never dream of moving beyond a platonic relationship with them. She'd never dream of it, until they reveal to her that they're wolf shifters and that her cousins' predetermined destiny chose her, out of the millions of girls they could have had, to be her mate.

Will Haley choose to walk the path fate has provided for her, or will she turn away, leaving both Matt and Shawn to live without a mate for the rest of their lives?

Unfortunately, the sound quality and narrative editing was so bad that I couldn't even finish this.

The audio sounded like the narrator was talking through a tin can. Was quite distracting. May be an okay story for some but just didn't do it for me.

Not the greatest shifter story....

80% of the book is her getting to the Ranger Station. In true Christie Sims fashion, body parts are worded with alternating attempts at "steamy" and utterly prudish anatomical terms. The sex scene (singular) is her usual sparse descriptions that are pretty much "He pounded her. She moaned. He kept pounding. She thought about something completely unrelated to the fact that she was being used rather hard," No one really is much an active participant, things mostly happen TO them.

Considering this author writes books like "Taken by the T-Rex", a book about a pair of wolf shifters involved... no actual wolves.

I've heard this narrator, and honestly, thought I could manage it as this was the first threesome I've seen the author write. It's why it isn't one-star, I knew exactly what I was getting into there.

if you're new to this uh, narrator, she reads every book in the exact same way; reading directly off the page for the first time, with the same cadence of "Putting the em-PHA-sis every six syl. Ables."

The book pretty much boils down to what seems like AI writing and AI vocal performance, but I assure you there are even worse ones in prior books.

Why keep taking a chance on these books? Because a couple are pretty good, and even ones like this have a place. The book is pretty much the first chapter of what should be an actual fleshed-out story, but it's a good starting point to tell it yourself from there. Mix in some Amber Foy (who, while also not high literature, takes some of the same scenarios and expands upon them).

But the disappointment, well.

Also, I was never quite clear on whether they were cousins all three together, or the two boys were cousins and she just calls them "The Cousins" because they live in each others' pockets.

Just a short, undetailed human threesome

What disappointed you about The Pack's New Mate?

The sound quality was horrific! I get better recording from my cell phone. It was like being in plane waiting for my ears to pop listening to someone with a cold in a can and then it was digitized.

How could the performance have been better?

The narrator must be new. She was pretty lifeless. However the best narrator in the world could not save the story with the recording.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointed distraction.

Recorded in a tin can?

The narrator reads like she's reading to someone with a learning disability. This is not a novel but a very short barely a story.

Don't waste your credit. Short story.
