The most dangerous men are the ones who seduce with words.

Flashy and irresistible, Lord Ashbee is used to getting what he wants. A hedonist, a ruthless businessman, and an exquisite lover, he is admired and warned about in the high society of Victorian London. When he encounters a beautiful young woman in the Belle House, the famous house of pleasure on Piccadilly, he is more than intrigued. With the help of in-house maid Krissy, he is determined to seduce the mysterious beauty.

Shy virtuous May is in hiding. She is confined to a small back room of the Belle House and does her best to avoid trouble. Especially Lord Ashbee. The last thing she needs is a man who can destroy her cover, not to mention her innocence. But a few encounters - and he already has her under his spell. When the tragedy is about to strike, no one is willing to help her. Except for Lord Ashbee.

On one condition - she will be his mistress.

Will Lord Ashbee get what he wants? Powerful men always do. But what happens when the passion becomes all-consuming? When the feelings go beyond lust? When May’s secret takes her away from him and he is faced with his dark past and deepest fears?

The Tender Days of May is a sensual, enthralling novel about pleasure, love, and scandalous education in the heart of Victorian London. It's a stand-alone novel, complete with a happily ever after and no cliffhangers. It contains explicit scenes for mature audiences only!

Historical romance meets dark romance. YES PLEASE! Historical romances, back in the day, were my bread and butter. This genre is what made me fall in love with reading, and I’m talking about high school was walking around the halls with my nose in a historical romance smut book. Can you imagine?! Anyways, I devoured this book. I love everything about historical romance and when I was told it was a little dark… I was SOLD! I’ll probably read the rest of the series and check out more by this author!

I did this book as an ALC and the narrator was so lovely. Her tone was beautiful and you could understand every word. She really brought the story to life. As May, the narrator did a wonderful job making her tone more sweet and innocent and as the book progressed, you heard May gaining confidence. I will definitely be checking out other titles from this narrator.

While I am a big fan of this author, I cannot say that the book I've just read provided the quality of story telling Kahany can do. First, Ray, the MMC, comes across as a man with serious mental health challenges. His philosophies are never fully explained nor who The Man might be. It's all quite clouded. Secondly, his treatment of May, the FMC, was mostly unending sex. I normally enjoy spice in my romance, but this..... Quite repetitive. I was bored, just like the reminders from the male main character. Could have given us some insight into how Ray got to the depravity stage. I really didn't like his character.
I stuck with the book but am glad it wasn't the first book I've read by this author. So, I'll give them another shot.

Lots of spice with the Ladies of the Belle House and the men who visit. The young beauty, May, hiding within the House's walls and the man, Lord Ashbee, most admired by high society. See the darkest parts of Victorian London as well as the most desirable; where most go to satisfy their pleasures and desires. Where May and Ashbee learn who they truly are and what they truly want.

Very good read with a lot of graphic scenes. There were some slow parts in the book, but nothing that detered me from wanting to read it all. Definitely recommend reading.

Starting with the story line. When I heard dark Victorian romance I’m not sure what I was thinking but it was not this. It made for an interesting combination, but it was enjoyable.
The voice fit well and very much enjoyed listening.

This was a quick and rather spicy listen. Narrators did a great job, the story just didn’t hold my interest.
