A young mother of four is forced into the dark streets after discovering that the charming man she married was just another chapter in a lifetime of abuse she'd already endured. Fearing for her own life, as well as that of her small children, she narrowly escapes as he relentlessly continues to pursue them from one city to another. They Loved with a Closed Fist: When Love Hurts is a memoir documenting the journey of Carmen Love. A woman who, despite many obstacles, broke free for the vicious cycle of domestic violence in her life. This memoir chronicles Love's earliest memories of witnessing things no child should ever have to witness. Though she was determined to escape her dysfunctional past, violence continued throughout her adult life. Despite all odds, it was through her resilient disposition and unwavering faith in God that Carmen triumphed, breaking the cycle of violence and finally setting herself free. WARNING: This book is based upon a true account of child abuse and domestic abuse. This content contains passages that some readers may find disturbing. This is one of the best stories I’ve heard about surviving domestic violence. It is always hard to hear about recurring, bad choices, but I am happy that, in the end, she figured out how to live her life without all the past baggage herself. She never caught a break, even growing up as her mother continued to be abusive emotionally and physically, when even some of her greatest accomplishments would fail to satisfy her mother, which is not Carmen Love’s problem. It’s her mother’s problem. Even the virtual voice recording was pretty easy to listen to if I do say so myself. It’s one of the better ones for sure as it moved along smoothly and didn’t take you out of the story because it was distracting. I hope Carmen Love continues to have success throughout her life. Her children sound so amazing especially her son Philip what a kind heart. Thoroughly enjoyed the story.
