David Roland brings insight, warmth and humour to his work as a writer, speaker and psychologist. He is a graduate with Honours in Science from the University of Sydney and he has a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Wollongong. He worked as a clinical and forensic psychologist for more than twenty years before focussing on writing and presenting. He is an Honorary Associate with the University Centre for Rural Health at the University of Sydney and a founding member of Compassionate Mind Australia. David is the author of The Power of Suffering: growing through life crises, How I Rescued My Brain: a psychologist’s remarkable recovery from stroke and trauma and The Confident Performer. He is published in Best Australian Science Writing 2015 and has been featured in national and international publications, radio and television. He is a recipient of the Stroke Foundation’s Creative Award, 2015. How I Rescued My Brain was shortlisted for an Australian Book Industry Award and was chosen as a prescription book by Reading Well and made available throughout libraries in the United Kingdom.
