The goal is simple. Tell the truth. Keep it entertaining. Refuse to pretend the past was tidy. When not writing, Carter can be found hiking sun baked trails, tending spiky plants that thrive on neglect, or falling down historical rabbit holes that start with “this will only take five minutes” and end hours later. Carter has a deep appreciation for human contradiction, especially the kind that builds empires, burns them down, and then writes very confident explanations afterward.
