Dr Lucy Hone is an award-winning researcher, best-selling author, and internationally recognised speaker whose work sits at the intersection of lived experience and evidence-informed practice. Her work became deeply personal following the sudden death of her 12-year-old daughter, Abi. That loss reshaped both her life and her professional focus, leading her to explore how people adapt, cope, and find meaning in the face of profound and unwanted change. Lucy is an Adjunct Senior Fellow at the University of Canterbury and is known globally for translating complex research into practical, usable tools for navigating all kinds of adversity. Her TED talk The Three Secrets of Resilient People has been viewed millions of times, translated into 23 languages, and ranks among TEDx’s Top 100 most-watched talks of all time. She is the author of How Will I Ever Get Through This?, which explores how to adapt to what she calls 'living losses', alongside the international bestseller Resilient Grieving and The Educator’s Guide to Whole-School Wellbeing. Lucy’s work is regularly featured internationally, including in The Guardian, The Washington Post, the BBC, CBS, Sydney Morning Herald and ABC. Her writing and speaking are pragmatic, compassionate, and practical, offering clear pathways for individuals, communities, and organisations to thrive through loss, uncertainty, uncertainty and change.
