I came to Charleston for music, not men.

This city is just another stop on my way to something bigger. A few months of playing, then I’m gone. No attachments. No complications.

Then I see him.

Atlas Dane. Silent. Watchful. Built like a warrior, dressed like a king. He doesn’t belong at an event like this, hulking in a tuxedo while I play for people who sip champagne and pretend they understand Bach.

But he’s not pretending.

He watches my hands like he already knows what they can do. He speaks in low, measured words that make my breath catch. And when I trip—because I always do—he’s there. Unmoving. Unshakable. Unavoidable.

I tell myself it doesn’t matter. That I can’t afford to get involved. That I’ll be gone before he can sink his claws into me.

But men like Atlas don’t let go.

And now I don’t know if I want him to.

The Commander is a grumpy/sunshine, possessive protector romance with obsessive themes. It’s the third book in the Dominion Hall series but can be listened to as a standalone.

Warning: This book contains a morally gray antihero, explicit sexual content, and profanity. Recommended for 18+.

About the Dominion Hall series:

Seven men. One brotherhood.

Built in Charleston, South Carolina in the shadows of war and wealth, Dominion Hall isn’t just a mansion—it’s their fortress. Ruthless. Untouchable. Dangerous.

But even the strongest men fall… for the wrong woman.

Enemies will come.

Betrayal will burn.

And the men of Dominion Hall?

They’ll bury anyone who dares to touch what’s theirs.

Possessive. Jealous. Obsessive.

These billionaires don’t share. They claim.

For fans of dangerous love, anti-heroes who live by their own rules, and the women who bring them to their knees.

In all seriousness, I love this book! The storyline was amazing and even had me teary eyed a couple of times. Two broken souls coming together to help each other heal. Add some badass men kicking ass and you got yourself one happy girl. My only hangup was that during the steamy scenes there was too much internal monologuing. I would have appreciated more conversation aka dirty talk but that's just me because I love them romance to be smutty.

The audiobook is in duet style which is a big plus for me and both narrators were excellent. They both showed real emotion. I wish they were both in more audiobooks but I'm looking forward to listening to more in this series. Jack Hesperus did a wonderful job with all the different voices, so many voices, and accents. Very impressive!

Definitely recommend this book and am looking forward to the rest of the series.

Found a new favorite narrator and the book isn't half bad.

The INTENSITY between them!!!! Absolutely phenomenal. Breath taking. The story line and the spicy went together like war and champagne!

Wow!

Entertaining listen. Not a typical lister or reader of military stories but they write these stories pretty well and not over bearing.

Really liked the male character. Sensitive, protective and very likable.

I think I should blame myself partially. I love the spicy novels. But for some reason, I still expect the writing to be good. The writing was so bad, the story was so incredibly corny, and the male narrator’s voice sounded like he was constipated or intentionally being sarcastic with his sexy voice, like an SNL skit. Overall, it was incredibly painful.

So bad
