Perfect for fans of A Court of Thorns and Roses and Uprooted, this stand-alone, fantasy romance about a human girl and her marriage to the Elf King is impossible to put down!

The elves come for two things: war and wives. In both cases, they come for death.

Three-thousand years ago, humans were hunted by powerful races with wild magic until the treaty was formed. Now, for centuries, the elves have taken a young woman from Luella's village to be their Human Queen.

To be chosen is seen as a mark of death by the townsfolk. A mark nineteen-year-old Luella is grateful to have escaped as a girl. Instead, she's dedicated her life to studying herbology and becoming the town's only healer.

That is, until the Elf King unexpectedly arrives... for her.

Everything Luella had thought she'd known about her life, and herself, was a lie. Taken to a land filled with wild magic, Luella is forced to be the new queen to a cold yet blisteringly handsome Elf King. Once there, she learns about a dying world that only she can save.

The magical land of Midscape pulls on one corner of her heart, her home and people tug on another... but what will truly break her is a passion she never wanted.

A Deal with the Elf King is a complete, *stand-alone* dramatized audiobook, inspired by the tales of Hades and Persephone, as well as Beauty and the Beast, with a "happily ever after" ending. It's perfect for fantasy romance fans looking for just the right amount of steam and their next slow-burn and swoon-worthy couple.

Performed by Kelly Baskin, Rayner Gabriel, Elena Anderson, Robb Moreira, Gabriel Michael, Ryan Haugen, Debi Tinsley, Yasmin Tuazon, James Konicek, Matthew Bassett, Scott McCormick, Nanette Savard, Karen Novack, Samantha Cooper, Alysia Beltran, Holly Adams, Elias Khalil, Ken Jackson, David Zitney, Eric Messner, David Cui Cui, Drew Kopas, Lise Bruneau, Richard Rohan, Patrick Boylan, and Alejandro Ruiz.

Every cliche in the history of romance exists here. This one is: I’m happy being a peasant healer- I don’t want to be a Queen. 🙄 And the absurd feminism in every thought of Luella, “The King is beautiful and I want to know him, but (insert biting knuckles here) I won’t be owned!
Essentially a YA novel that goes exactly where you think it will. I wish that I had known before I’d wasted a credit.
My teen daughter would be all over this, but for adults, it’s just not enough.

So Boring

I’m a big time fantasy romance reader. And this was a nice, light story. A little too cliche at some moments and I did find myself wanting a stronger plot at times…. But I still had fun listening to the full cast and sound effects that this audiobook offered. The ending was your typical happily ever after so if you’re looking for something with fast paced romance, simple plot, and leaves you with a happy feeling I’d give this story a go.

Simple, Cute, Happy.

This was a nice little romantasy. Very minimal world building, but the characters & slow burn romance really carried it. The plot could’ve been a bit more intriguing, you can kinda predict what’s going to happen, but I was still entertained!!
Eldas was such a perfectly grumpy, ruthless, misunderstood yet lovable MMC. The Narrator who played him did wonderful as well.
Luella (FMC) got on my nerves at times, but I loved how she was ready to stand on business & still had compassion towards her enemies. The side characters really shined too, esp Hook 🐺
I did feel some parts still have unanswered questions, but overall I enjoyed this 🎧

A Fun Standalone 🤍

Don't hesitate to grab this audio book.
The performances are outstanding. They really brought the characters to life! And the additional use of sound made Hook the wolf so real. The actors do a great job, and as a big fan of the book I was incredibly happy to hear these beloved characters obtain perfect voices.

It feels like a movie in your head.
Makes chores feel easy too. Time just flies by.

I look forward to more! <3

Enchanting

The acotar comparison drew me to this, however I think thats only accurate for the beauty and the beast inspiration. The story is very basic and theres no complicated world building- Id say its a fairytale thats more grownup. Spice level is near zero and is not detailed at all. This is a sunshine & rainbows story so if you want a easy to follow story with the cliche mysterious king falling in love with a 19yr old girl who doesn’t know her new powers this is it.

Decent story, good drama adaptation
