A Fool's Fortune

When a new family moves to town talking of gold in the mountains, Kathleen and her brother James, along with their friends Charles and Angus quickly befriend them. When they finally strike gold, a traitor is revealed to be amongst them. Tempers flare as fingers are pointed and trust is broken among the newfound friends.

Realistic story with some twists

I wish there were options for half stars. We listened to this story on a road trip not realizing how short it was until we clicked start. The narrator was a little heavy handed with the accents, but otherwise, the pacing was good. We all agreed that we’d have liked to learn more about the characters but otherwise, the plot was interesting, and I’m glad I stepped away from my favorite genres to try something new with this one.
