Evil comes in all shapes and sizes but seems more deadly when hidden in physical beauty.

Anson Poe hides behind a handsome face as he wreaks havoc upon those around him. Nothing touches his heart but power and greed; not the woman he married or the four children they share.

Brendan Poe shares his father's stunning looks while trying to live down the shame. He does everything he can to stay out of Anson's world of crime until one hot Louisiana summer when he can no longer look away.

When the women who matter most in Brendan's world become pawns in Anson's need for revenge, he strikes back with a blinding rage, leaving Anson with the options of fight or flight.

Will he run, or will he stay? Will he live to lie another day?

This was a good story! This Author was recommended by a 87 year old resident at my job.

A bit dark but turned out to be a pretty good telling. This is my second book by this author and both have been pretty good.

Unexpected Delight

I listened to this because it came with the membership, but I didn't expect to finish it, just to listen on a long ride home and probably forget about it. Relatable characters, enough campy dialogue to make you laugh but not enough to take you out of what's happening. The story also ends up having some surprising elements which I did not expect. My only major criticism is that the narrator cannot voice Belinda, a little girl, to the best degree. It's still passable, but still noticeable.

Overall, I would say it's worth a listen.
