A spicy Small Town, Single Mom, Forbidden romance from USA Today bestselling author Willow Aster

Waking up in a gorgeous man’s lap definitely wasn’t on this year’s bingo card, that’s for sure.

Flying halfway across the country, exhausted and on an empty stomach, is a lot. Having to do all that while realizing I’ll be away from my little girl while she’s at her dad’s is an even worse feeling.

Enter Dylan. The irresistibly gorgeous man whose lap I collapsed in on my flight home. He is handsome, charming, and manages to sweet-talk me right into bed with his beautiful smile and twinkling hazel eyes. This is sooo unlike me, but I couldn’t help myself.

Dylan and I don’t really know each other. Plus, I live in Minnesota, and he lives in California, and anything long-term would never work. Yet the chemistry between us can’t be denied.

But then the real problem between us comes to light, and it’s a big one. A forbidden one. There’s no way we can ever be together…but how do we give up on each other when our fiery connection feels like a once-in-a-lifetime love?

All for Love is book three in the interconnected, standalone Windy Harbor series.

I really wanted to like this book—the premise was compelling, and the chemistry between the characters was strong from the start. Dylan, in particular, stood out as charming, attentive, and easy to root for. However, as the story progressed, I found myself increasingly frustrated with the female lead, Dahlia. Although she is portrayed as an adult with real responsibilities, including being a mother, she consistently struggled to stand up for herself—especially in her relationship with her father. This made it difficult to connect with her character or fully invest in any of her choices. Even toward the end, when she began to assert herself, it felt too late to shift my overall impression. Instead of feeling empathetic, I often found her passivity frustrating and difficult to respect. I also found her behavior in the relationship increasingly contradictory. She seemed to want everything Dylan offered- his support, stability, presence - yet was unwilling to openly acknowledge the relationship due to her fear of confronting her father. This push and pull dynamic made her come across as selfish as though she wanted the benefits of a relationship with Dylan without taking responsibility for it. This was noticeable given how present Dylan was in her life- he not only showed up for her, but also became a meaningful presence for her daughter, who clearly grew attached to him and often sought him out. This dynamic made the central conflict harder to buy into. Because Dahlia repeatedly avoided taking control of her own life, it lessened the emotional impact of the challenges she faced. I couldn’t help but feel that Dylan deserved someone more self-assured—someone who could meet him on equal footing. Overall, while the story had strong potential, the character dynamics ultimately made it a disappointing read.

Strong Premise but Frustrating Heroine
