Detroit, the "Model City", was thought to be safe.

An Intrinsic Dereliction traces the story of the racist racial unrest, turmoil, and decay that has led Detroit, once the fourth-largest city in America and the fastest -rowing city in the world, to an unparalleled state of urban blight, neglect, and crime, a third-world city in the midst of America, rotted to its core.
