I don’t normally comment but this one really rubbed me the wrong way. The performance was great as usual but the story… It definitely went in a different way than I expected but the storytelling was sloppy. Without spoiling it, a lot of the details didn’t make sense and wouldn’t have worked in reality. Pip’s character evolved in a direction that made me feel uncomfortable, she made stupidly complicated unnecessary plans for plot reasons and shock factor where a more simple solution would have made more sense. She leaned into choices that were irrational and Ravi indulged her instead of being a voice of reason. What are the chances that not a single thing ever would be forgotten, left behind or go wrong? Why would you make a plan relying on perfection when a more simple, obvious choice is right there? Anyway, rant over. I didn’t enjoy the story and I’m going to pretend this abomination was never written.

Series of stupid decisions with improbable outcomes

Like with the other books, it took me a moment to get into the story. But a few chapters in and I really liked it.

Takes a bit to get into the story

After reading the first book, which I gave five stars to, I had very high hopes for this series. However, I have found that a star has gone away with each book. I don’t know whether it was the storyline or who the characters developed into. But it just wasn’t giving the same energy that the first book had. The excitement of seeing where this is going to go. I was hoping that it would almost be similar to the first one, but Pip is just solving a different case. Almost like she is a detective. But I feel like the investigation she was doing wasn’t as exciting as the first one. It was still a good book, but compared to the first one in the series, it just didn’t live up to its predecessor.

Good but not as good as the first one

Unfortunately, Pip didn't have the perseverance to see how she developed into a heroine at the very end, as we did in the first novel from the very beginning. Although I don't blame her for the way the story has changed, it was unlike of her. As I kept turning the pages, Holly Jackson's seemingly infinite hints continued to astound me.

Pip lost her integrity but it didn't let me down!

I am going to pretend this book doesn't exist. The first two books were brilliant, but this one really destroyed Pippa forever. Horrible charachter slaughtering.

Terrible
