Our story starts during World War I, but far from the fighting. A teenage boy named Noah gets swept to sea on a homemade raft, drifting far from his home village. Noah floats to an idyllic green island, a special place for the mer-people. Here, Noah befriends a mermaid, finds a mysterious cave, and realizes he himself must drink the tears of a mermaid in order to stay alive. Hence in book one, we are introduced to Noah in his earliest days, yet an important part of a trilogy that will leave you wanting to know more about Noah...and the sea!
