Northern Alabama and Southern Tennessee American Indian Movement (AIM) 7 Directions
Mission
The Northern Alabama and Southern Tennessee American Indian Movement (AIM) 7 Directions is a Grassroots Movement aimed at cultivating community alliances in advocating for the rights of the Indigenous, Peoples of Color, the Marginalized and the Oppressed. We stand in ending police violence against Indigenous people and their community neighbors, fiercely opposing brutal and inhumane conduct taken by local, state and federal police. We defend our freedom and heritage as a people, and the right to self-governance and determination, celebrating and preserving our traditions in spirituality and culture. We are a movement who demands the U.S. Government honor its broken promises and treaty obligations, while seeking a path forward in the reclaiming of lands seized by the U.S. Government. We firmly advocate the “Good Stewardship of Mother Earth”, and the protection of Indigenous cultural and heritage sites, while raising awareness and in opposition to the exploitation of natural resources affecting the environment, Indigenous peoples and our neighboring communities.
