Alec Ewell moves to a new town with his grandfather, and goes to a new school to start a new life. But everywhere they go, Alec just can't help but use his unique ability to heal people who are injured, or sick, or suffering. He is a Balm, and it's a power that runs in his family, but Gramps wants him to keep it a secret, to leave well enough alone, and just try to be a normal boy...something Alec has never managed to do.
