Lent is not so much a season for discipline as it is a season for transfiguration, a time for letting ourselves be illumined once again by the hope created by the Gospel. The light of that hope, which shines not only on Tabor but also on Golgotha, shows us the truth of silence, death, obedience, doubt, and repentance. And in that light, we see light—and recognize ourselves for the first time.

Incredible reflections. Perfect for devotional or personal study. Only critique is that I wish there were pictures in the hard copy. Have read this many times and will read it many more.

This one is worth relistening to again and again

There is so much depth in this Lenten devotional. The author’s grasp on the Great Tradition and his anchoring in the more audacious figures of the Church’s history make for a riveting theological journey! Highly recommend.
