Surrounded by rednecks, misfits, and counterculture burnouts, John Gibson the reluctant heir of an alcoholic squirrel-sculpting grandmother – and Sarah McKay – a commune-reared “hippie-by-association” – search for self and community in 1989 rural Mendocino County, California.
