Evaline Manor was sure she'd lived the worst day of her life when she witnessed the death of her father and narrowly avoided a brutal attack. Now she's trapped in the kingdom ruled by her aunt and uncle who are desperate to keep her docile and marry her off. She's determined to utilize her combat training to escape Kembertus and flee to one of the neighboring kingdoms.

Maddox Vicor doubted whether the Goddess of Fate would grant him a mate. Most Kova found theirs in their first hundred years. He'd long passed that mark. But on his first day in Kembertus, he catches Evaline pickpocketing his dagger. In one moment, his world turns on its axis as he feels the bond snap into place, and Maddox knows that this woman with white hair and inhuman reflexes is his mate.

The illusion of freedom that Evaline holds dear is torn away on her new worst day when her aunt proposes an arrangement that she'd kill to escape. With time slipping through her fingers and danger closing in on all sides, she must do the one thing she fears most in order to save herself: she must trust a bloodthirsty immortal.

I was surprised by this book, it was great! Can't wait to start the next one!

great story line

Firstly, the female narrator is absolute gold. Her voice is soothing and the emotion she pours into the book is perfection. I was crying by the fifth chapter because the story was being told so passionately. I’ve been excited for this book for a while and went in only knowing it was a fated mates/ vampire romance, so I was bound to like it. But the plot and characters…this book is under hyped to put it plainly. More people need to know how amazing this story is and this author is now a new fav. Overall absolutely wonderful book.

Phenomenal! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book was sooo good. Though it was a little predictable it was a great book and I can’t wait for the second one. That ending though😩😩😩

I need more😩

Why would the main character do AnYtHinG that she does? From the time she ends up under her aunt and uncle's care, she doesn't make a single good decision. Seriously, is she brain dead?

'I have to get revenge on the bad guy!'

But in order to do so, I have to get married to him first?

Ok, fine. I'll play along, But then she has amble opportunity to have her revenge and her freedom? but she's like 'naw, maybe later.'

This plot is perhaps one of the least thought out plots I have ever read, and thats saying a lot in the world of Amazon and indie publishing.

Regardless, the world building is ok. The Kova and whatever the evil vampires are called were interesting enough to want to know more. But then we have Maddox (the MMC) who shows up - all ancient immortal warrior woth honor blah-blah-blah - and the moment he realizes she's his fated mate 🙄 at the beginning of the book, he becomes a total simp. His whole demeanor is suddenly that of a 16yr old kid hoping to get some at prom. What?

And Evaline... She doesn't even deserve a paragraph. She's the quintessential Mary Sue. Beautiful, everyone but the bad aunt and evil fiancé love her, she can do everything better, faster, etc than anyone else (except when it matters).

But the worst part of this book is that the entire plot would not exist if Evaline actually rubbed a couple brain cells together at any given point in the story. She has so many opportunities to end all the shenanigans, but instead is like Leroy Jenkins! Its obnoxious. DNF at the cemetery scene when she goes full on liar

Makes no sense

Loved the concept and will be listening to the whole series if audible offers it. My only complaint was that it felt kinda anticlimactic because of all the overly forced relationship drama, and it left a ton of obvious plot questions not only unanswered, as well as all but completely unaddressed, too.
