Moving back to Ridgeview was the last thing I wanted. I got away from here as soon as I could and I’ve hardly looked back. Yet here I am, twelve years later, living in my hometown where ghosts of broken dreams and promises haunt me around every corner. Even when my life fell apart and I had to make a new plan I never planned to fall in love. Not with anyone, but especially not with her.

Millie Jacobson, my best friend’s little sister and my little brother’s best friend. To sum it up: it’s complicated. I’ve known her since the day she was born. We grew up together. Somehow along the way, she grew up. She’s no longer that gangly little girl who sang at the top of her lungs at my baseball games anymore than I am that kid who couldn’t wait to get out of Ridgeview and make the major leagues.

Now if I could only figure out a way to get her to take a chance on me.

Breaking the Best Friend Code is a closed door romantic comedy with real life issues, elements of self reflection and discovery, awkward and clumsy moments, and lots of love and banter. There is no swearing and no intimacy beyond sweet and swoony kissing.

Mark and Millie are a perfect pairing. Funny, charming, and good banter. The added bonus of not one best friend pair but two adds to the tension of their romance. But, not sprinklers, neighbors who have lost their keys, or their families can keep these two apart. Now they just have to tell their best friends, which totally breaks the best friend code.

The clean playful banter between characters❣️

The family drama was a little over the top at the beginning, but I’m so happy I stuck with the story, it was totally worth it❣️ I ended up loving so many characters❣️
