Carolina Reckoning

When 30-something housewife Alison Monaghan discovers proof of her husband's infidelity in a photograph with a mysterious woman, she must decide how to confront Frank when he returns home from work. Despite the influence of her best friend, Valerie, a strong Christian, Alison remains aloof from God and is determined to handle this crisis her own way. But Alison may not get that chance.

Frank never makes it home. Soon his body is found on a lonely back-country road in antebellum Weathersby Historic Park, where Frank served on the board of directors and where Alison, with a degree in landscape design, was a volunteer garden docent. Homicide detective Mike Barefoot, a Cherokee native from the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, immediately puts Alison at the top of his suspect list. He finds himself drawn to her - and not just because she had motive for the crime. As an army veteran, Mike usually keeps his emotional walls high. And as a detective, he knows not to get involved with murder suspects. So why he is so attracted to Alison? Can he fight his feelings for her - and the stirrings in his heart toward God?

Real...

I like real people who suddenly struggle with challenges that rock their world. These characters experience a new reality but it's done with grace and humor. Lessons are learned and twists are amazing! Will read more from this author any day!!!

Hmmm...

Oh No! You missed it on the narrator, which sadly, no matter how good the story, detracts from it. It's bound to happen.. that being said, not all the voices were off, but I particularly disliked the voice of the girl and the time's it was devoid of inflection and flat. It did detract from the story, which otherwise was solid reading with feel good, wholesome vibes (even with the murder!) with something worthwhile saying.. and hearing. It would have been better with a different narrator, but I did listen to it to the very end and it was a good story. Keep writing it!

Loved it! Very engaging and exciting. Kept me on the edge and anxious to hear the next chapter. Loved the characters and the story. The narrator did a great job.

i loved it. Good book. The plot kept me guessing. The cat was unexpected.

Who is the mysterious killer???

It was hard to figure out the twist and turns of how it would all play out. Definitely a good wine I would recommend it.
