Seth is a master story teller

I picked this listen up thinking it would be a good time filler before the next installments come out from my favorite authors. Turns out I now have another series to follow! This book is superb. Tired of the overpowered MC? Worn out by authors who give everyting to their characters far too easily. Want a little struggle? This is the book for you. Refreshing in both the struggle but also in the meaningful victories Seth has created the start of a new masterpiece.

Super start to a new series

So good I went and bought book two in this series within an hour of starting this book!

A little disappointing.

I like the narrator, and the MC seems interesting enough. The only problem for me is the fighting scenes. They’re just unrealistic.

A few things I couldn’t not notice.

A girl is almost never going to beat a bigger boy in a fist fight. Fighting by throwing punches and kicks when you’re bigger and stronger is incredibly stupid.
And a guy with a knife will beat any martial arts master 9 times out of 10.

So other than the stupid fight scenes, it was ok.

The story and narrator’s performance was stellar. Nuff said. You won’t regret listening to this one.

I loved this book. There was never a time I found the book to be too “slow” as in many other times. In many other lit rpg’s, what annoyed me the most is when the author keeps referencing the status menu over and over again but this book had just the right amount of stat listing. Enough to not overdraw on the whole concept. All of the action scenes were described impeccably and always had you on the edge of your seat. For those of you who have read many other great books which have left a deep impression on you, you know exactly what that feels like. I also love how the main character is not portrayed as this OP character that can immediately curb-stomp anyone regardless of age or experience. No… this characters strength lies in his witty thinking and intellectual problem solving approach. However, I digress. Great book. Seth ring. I now have you in my sights and am looking forward to book 2.
