Years after being left at the altar, Susan Spencer is facing another sad, cold, lonely Christmas in Boston. Unwilling to let her life continue like this, she accepts a match with a bachelor blacksmith in Miles Gulch, Wyoming. Her head full of dreams of a happy Christmas with her new husband, she sets out on the long journey with a brave heart.

Arriving at Miles Gulch, however, her dreams are immediately shattered. Her fiancé is deathly ill and passes away shortly after her arrival. Alone in Miles Gulch, Susan befriends some of the folks in town, and when they mistakenly assume she was already married to the blacksmith, she hasn’t the heart to set them straight.

With a home, a job, and friends, Susan is determined to make this new life a better one - even if she has to spend it alone. But when her old flame Henry Hudson walks through the door, she realizes that Miles Gulch is about to give her more than she bargained for.
