Shorthand/typist Claribel struggles to find another job after her London employer goes bust in the economic difficulties of the early eighties. At last she’s offered a post at a country estate in rural Wiltshire, but she’s not sure she wants it. The signs are not good. On her first day a Rolls Royce almost knocks her off her bike. She’s supposed to be staying in the old stable block, but there’s no furniture. And who is the autocratic owner who has such a thing about privacy and security.
