Crushed Dominion

The universe always has a plan.

One minute, I’m chilling out in the closet, drinking champagne, and about to order a pizza. The next, I’m transported to another planet with sweeping red dunes, crimson mountains, and pastel wildlife that make me question if my champagne was laced.

Every time I babbled to the night sky on my wobbly rooftop lounger, I didn’t actually think someone else, in a far-off galaxy, might be doing the same thing. Turns out, I was wrong. Reon, my new alien immigration lawyer, looks like Space Satan with his horns that heat with his moods, his glowing sigils, and the bizarre shards of his personality that physically manifest.

The moment I believe I’m stranded and never going back to Earth, Reon makes me an offer I can’t refuse. Can I strike a bargain with the devil without losing my heart?

Cute but…

Holy cow what’s going on with the audio quality here? It was almost unlistenable. Kind of sounded like an echo chamber- which is rough because I really like the narrator. It was distracting from the story, which is a shame because it’s a cute one. Almost stopped it immediately but I’m glad I stuck with it. Typical cute fluffy story about a human getting stuck on an alien planet.

A good story

This book has a good story. I liked the plot and found it pretty entertaining at times.

Sweet and Sour

I like this story and considering I can't remember reading/listening to a Poppy Rhys story before, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the plot and characters. Therefore, I'll very likely check out their other titles.

As for this story, it is at a good price point for just being shy of 4hrs. This is the kind of fast romance I don't mind buying since it was gratifying, but like any "fast" creation (fast fashion, fast food, etc.) it's not going to be perfect. My biggest complaint is the audio quality. I'm not sure if it could be cleaned up more, but half the time it seemed like Wolfgang Milliken was recorded in a closet or can and the occasional added in sound effects were odd and completely unnecessary. Aside from that, the story could have been so much more, all the development of the characters was there, but it seems the intent was to keep this short and sweet. It was still very good, but I really wanted it to be longer. I think it is just the nature of this multiple author series to have them crank these books out quickly.

Anyway, would recommend buying for a sweet and steamy quickie, but just know the audio production will sour some of the immersion (I still very much loved Wolfgang's deep voice).
