In Dimensions, Dr. Jacques Vallee reexamines the historical record that led to the modern UFO phenomenon and to the belief in alien contact. He then tackles the enigma of abduction reports, which come from various times and various countries, as well as the psychic and spiritual components of the contact experience. In the last portion of the book, he notes the factors that inhibit research into the phenomenon - the triple coverup and political motivations - and concludes that the extraterrestrial theory is simply not strange enough to explain the facts.

I recommend this book. Vallee has been involved with the UFO phenomenon since the 1950s. He thinks for himself and has a compelling solution to the mysteries of UFOs.

Exactly what I needed

An insightful book, written by an extraordinary man! I have several of his books, and plan to eventually read them all.

A great scientific mind meticulously examines contact phenomena

The author uses rationale to examine "contact experiences" through history to find similarities and larger patterns in the often nonsensical anecdotes. It is one of the best examinations of the "ufo issue" that I've encountered. The author and I find that too many people either shut out the phenomena all together from scientific research or they start their examinations from a position tainted with assumptions. Vallee takes the middle road and finds some interesting patterns that appears to indicate that "alien contacts" are staged, possibly to mold our society over time.

Valuable for anyone interested in the topic

The main idea is that people have reported experiences of interactions with mysterious beings continuously throughout recorded history: demons, elves, UFOs, etc.

Vallee argues that such phenomena originate in intelligence from another dimension, and probably not from aliens that have traveled through space to visit our planet.

Highly speculative and limited, but intellectually honest.
