I have really enjoyed this series and have fallen in love with both Prince Airón and Emperor Tallu. In this book, the two of them are dealing with the mutiny from their two Generals and are trying to come up with alternate strategies.

They end up taking a route by water that doesn't exactly turn out the way they had planned. In the meantime, there are discoveries being made about what exactly is going on at some of the other areas - elven areas that are yielding some major surprises.

This book felt a little slower than the previous books, but it still did move the overall storyline forward. Tallu now has his younger brother and Heir with them, along with the former Emperess but he is not completely convinced of her loyalties.

As usual, this book did give us just enough to have some major information uncovered, but unfortunately, it left us with more questions than answers.

It looks like I will again be eagerly awaiting the next installment :)

Pretty good story but losing steam

This was my least favorite of the series thus far but was still a well written story. I think there was significantly less relationship building and lovin’ on each other between the MCs, so that’s probably where most of my gripes stem from lol

Just gets better and better!

This is the fourth book in the series, and I really do think it’s worth starting from the beginning to fully appreciate everything going on here. There’s so much already established that it just hits better when you’ve been on the whole journey.

What I loved most is how easy it is to get pulled back into this world. It’s rich without feeling overwhelming, and there’s always something happening—magic, danger, twists—but it never feels like too much or like it’s just thrown in for shock value. The stakes feel real the entire time, which kept me on the edge of my seat.

But honestly, Tallu and Airon are what made this book special for me. Their relationship adds so much more heart to the story. The way they show up for each other, support each other… it just grounds everything. No matter what kind of chaos is happening around them, that connection gives the story its emotional core, and I loved that.

They keep getting better & better!

I am in love with this book and the series at large. It balances a deeply passionate romance with a complex court drama and a classic adventure story. It does a damn good job of it as well. Well worth a read or listen and well worth hanging on for the whole epic story.
