Dragonflight

First things first. Mom, I understand know why you nagged me for about 25 years to read this. That out of the way, this is truly unique and wonderful book. A sci-fi soup-opera with freaking dragons. The romance is not overdone (guys think A Princess of Mars) and doesn’t take away from this gripping tale. Highly recommend.
Dick Hill did a fantastic job with this. He’s a great voice for Pern, and having glanced at the catalogue I’m glad I loved it.

Still one of my favs

The narrators voice was a bit gruff for my taste. But I have loved this series too long to care.

I love reading the books then re-living them in audio, great narration too! Being a dragon Rider on Pern is one of my favorite fantasies.

Still Relevant…?

I think so.

I’ve never read or listened to this book before. Tried to read one of the novels when I was a kid, back in the 90s, and it was hard for me to follow.

From this book, you see how much potential the series has. It sucks you in more in the last third or fourth of the book, but is still hard to follow, in my opinion. That may be because of its age and/or writing style of when it was written.

Overall, if you’re a fan of science fiction/science fantasy, however you want to define it, you have to read/listen to this. Very imaginative.

It’s hard to believe it was written over fifty (almost sixty) years ago…!

The narrator/voice actor does a great job but there is some distortion, to my ear, in the recording. It’s often harsh and not very clear. Doesn’t make it unlistenable, though.

I will definitely follow up and listen to the second book in the trilogy.

love the story of the young girl becoming so much more than she thought she was going to be.

I liked the story, and the dragons, but I dislike the narrator's particular style of telling
