Captivating and Emotional Romance!

I was completely captivated by this steamy, enemies to lovers romance! This is an emotional, and sizzling romance that will take your breath away! Daniel and Nicole have been drawn to each other since their youth. Nicole comes from privilege and was forced to act a certain way. She wanted Daniel, and when it appeared he didn't see her, she would do whatever she could to get his attention, even when it would hurt them both. Daniel didn't want to be attracted to Nicole, and the more he wanted her, the more he pushed her away. Now years later, after they lost touch with each other, Daniel is her new boss. He is intent on making her life miserable, then fire her. Nicole is running from a tragic situation, and needs this job. She is determined do whatever it takes to keep it, even if she has to endure Daniels harsh treatment. But the all consuming attraction they have for each other turns their tense interactions into fiery passion. But there is too many years of secrets, and misunderstandings to overcome. As secrets are revealed, will they be able to trust each other to finally open their hearts, or will they break each other for good? I loved how Kent expertly told this story in past and present sequence, with all it's twists and turns, giving us time to discover who Daniel and Nicole are today and how they got there, allowing us to understand, empathize and cheer for them to heal and have their HEA. My heart broke for what they both went through, and their struggles to move on. I was frustrated with some of their poor decisions, and actions, but I loved how they grew into better people. Nicole's growth and change was especially beautiful, from someone you loathed, to a strong, resilient, caring heroine. Daniel is a ruthless and sexy hero who will make your heart skip a beat.
The narration by Shane East, and Christy Woods was fabulous! They are so perfect as Daniel and Nicole, as they not only build the tension of the story, but the fiery attraction between Daniel and Nicole as well. Their banter was brilliant, and they conveyed the depth and complexity of all their emotions beautifully. I always love East's work, and he did a great job showing Daniel's ruthlessness, conflicting emotions, and delicious dominance. This was my first time listening to Woods and I really enjoyed how she expressed Nicole's determination, thoughtfulness, and fiery passion. I was completely lost in their moving performance.

Incredible!

I have never reviewed a book before but I had to with this one! I read the two books prior to this one and although it’s not necessary I was glad I did. Only because I had something to compare this one to. This book is absolutely 5 stars or more. The story the slow burn the push and pull. You can actually feel what the characters are going through. Just amazing. I will likely reread this one and I’ve only ever reread one other book in my life.
