Fatal Cure

The task looks simple to Joe Mayfield and his wife, hacker extraordinaire, Weezy Napolitani: find a stolen laboratory notebook. But when professional assassins attack Joe and Weezy and a biotech’s lead scientist is kidnapped, it’s apparent something much larger than a missing notebook is at stake. It’s a few years in the future. Gene therapy has come of age, bringing with it the hope of curing genetically driven diseases.

For Gerard Crecher, the altruistic vision of saving the planet becomes justification to sacrifice a few climate change deniers by altering a few crucial genes. Others don’t have such pure motives. Targeting decision makers, politicians, or enemy nations, those alterations can be used with deadly intent, a poison pill sold to the highest bidder. Weezy, Joe, and their hacker friends find themselves in a deadly race to reach into the dark net to dredge up the stinking mess and air it out before gene therapy is turned into a bioweapon for genocide.
