The memoirs of Lieutenant-General James Longstreet contains much of historical interest. He provides a personal account of the progress of the Civil War, plus a wealth of anecdotes about Robert E. Lee and his officers. Longstreet was the commander of the Confederate Army's First Corps, which fought through most of the major wartime campaigns.

Valuable Insights, Great Narration

So glad this book is on audible. While there is much detailed tactical information, it’s the insights into the personalities of the CSA and the thoughts of Longstreet himself that draws me to this book. The anecdotes are priceless as well. The narrator is to be congratulated on his clear, genuine and folkish voice, which makes me believe that Longstreet may have sounded similar to him.
