Slow build, strong finish

The majority of the book isn’t particularly groundbreaking for anyone already interested in the subject matter. However, toward the end—when the author begins discussing Israel, Sharia law, and related global dynamics—the material becomes far more thought‑provoking. It offers plenty to consider in light of current political leadership and the international situations they’re connected to. Worth a read (or listen) if you’re looking to connect a few more pieces of the puzzle.

A Hateful Diatribe

The author is obviously resentful of the evangelical church, of which he was a part of for years, and focuses on “exposing” the “fighting fundies” as frauds and bumpkins. What struck me the most was his total lack of self reflection. He had many affairs with men while still married to his wife and touts this as healthy exploration of his sexuality. He glorifies promiscuity and classism. This is one of a handful of books I’ve regretted purchasing.
