Cecily Hampton's first date with Dominic Bellinger started out like a dream. The conversation? Flowing. The chemistry? Sizzling. But when Cecily overhears a phone call Dom steps away to take, she grabs her purse and makes a run for it. She knows a red flag when she sees one.

Unfortunately, avoiding Dom becomes impossible when they're both summoned to Las Vegas to celebrate their mutual friends. A rush to undo the drunken mistake is halted when Cecily's grandmother calls to announce she's dying, and her final wish is to road trip around Arizona with her family. Including her granddaughter's new husband.

Cecily can't decide which is worse - being stuck in a luxury motor coach with Dom, or her estranged family.

But somewhere between a stay at a haunted hotel and unwittingly attending a nudist colony, their thinly veiled insults and barbed remarks give way to the attraction from their first date. They tell themselves it's just this once...twice...ok, three times.

Scratching an itch starts looking a lot like newlywed bliss. And their temporary marriage? It just might turn into forever.

Loved it

Enemies to lovers, family healing and a road trip I didn’t expect. I loved Hard Feelings. Though I do need to warn their is a character reaching the end of their life so be aware of that before stepping in. As for the book is was slow burn banter deliciousness. The narrators did a fantastic job. The story itself had me entrances. Highly recommend.

When an Accidental Wedding Turns Into Everything

This was a fun, laugh-out-loud, trope-filled ride. An accidental wedding mixed with forced proximity and chaotic family road trip. Along the way a snarky, savage grandma steals the show, the characters face real emotional and personal growth, and through all the chaos and barbed banter, a genuinely sweet love story unfolds. It’s witty, heartfelt, and full of moments that made me grin, swoon, and occasionally laugh out loud.

Marissa Clay and Wesley Mercer were absolutely splendid as duet narrators! Each brought multiple characters to life across a range of ages, making everyone instantly recognizable, while keeping the flirty banter and sarcasm between Cecily and Dominic effortlessly charming. Their performance added so much extra fun and energy to this already chaotic, swoony story.

Phenomenal book all around

Phenomenal!!! I’ve been counting down the days until Hard Feelings released since Here for the Cake was one of my favourite books of the year. I think Jennifer Millikin did such an incredible job with this book. It was witty, laugh out loud funny, but also covered some heavy topics. The family chaos with underlying grief and years of butting heads was so interesting to read. Cecily and Dom were absolutely adorable and I’m so glad we got past the misunderstanding part of the story pretty quickly. All the My Wife moments deserve an award!

I LOVED the audio for Here For the Cake, so after finishing the ebook I speed read it on audio and gosh these narrators were perfect for this book!!! I hadn’t read any books narrated by Wesley Mercer or Marissa Clay before but they are absolute favourites now. I think their pacing was great, and I think the voices and intonations to differentiate characters were amazing as well.

Dom and Cecily

My first audiobook read of 2026 goes to Hard Feelings by Jennifer Millikin. Hard Feelings is the second book in the Serendipity & Shenanigans series, and while I recommend that you read all of Jennifer Millikin's books, it is not necessary for this one. Wesley Mercer and Marissa Clay did a wonderful job bringing Cecily and Dom to life. Thank you for another fantastic read, Jennifer.

A Hilarious Roadtrip Romance

"You are far too easy to love. You are so easy to love that I have to remind myself to slow down.

This book was seriously like a warm hug mixed with a couple shots of tequila! It was an unbelievably refreshing take on a “accidentally married in Vegas story”. I went into the story blind other than knowing a few of the tropes and I am just blown away by how wonderful this book was!

"Careful, Menace. I like it when you're mean."

The characters were each so well rounded and unique. The different roadtrip settings and spicy shenanigans had me both overheating and cackling. For a roadtrip that had a very macabre purpose, it was such a healing time for the characters. Savage grandma was HILARIOUS and I loved her so freaking much. (Also, Rainbow was a great edition to this wild group of people!)

From dude ranches with only one bed, to literal spicy scenes that ended in milk baths, to haunted hotels, Hard Feelings was a wild ride!

"I'm not sure how I feel about the choking," I admit. Her eyebrows cinch together, perplexed. "What choking?" (IYKYK 😂)

Cecily & Dom’s relationship might have started out rough but their banter was priceless and the feelings they developed along the way were undeniable. That man was so dang sweet on his “wife”. I LOVED IT! 🤭

This audiobook was brilliantly preformed by Wesley Mercer & Marissa Clay. These were new narrators for me and I immediately wanted to look up more of their works!

If you need a great romcom read that will have you crying & cackling, I definitely recommend running so download Hard Feelings!
