Ones I can hear deep below the ground.

Where friends, strangers, child, and brother
Search for an escape like none other.

Where an experience or adventure is something to treasure,
Wrapped up safe and cloaked with much pleasure.

Where the cold, dark nights call for fires to be lit,
And body heat isn’t enough to stoke the endless pit.

Where ombre sunsets rival the brightest of loves,
And hatchets to scare even the most innocent doves.

Hardscrabble is a place for the dreamers to dream,
And nightmares for others where they may even scream.

I enjoyed this collection of short stories that are all connected by this one place. All stories are vastly different from romance to thriller to horror. These stories were short and fast that can be read in one sitting. I enjoyed getting a snippet into the writing style of some new to me authors and will be checking out more of their work.
