Maya has always gotten wet in the rain.

Her father never did.

As a child, she watched him step out into storms and come back completely dry, urging her to “walk between the raindrops” and promising that, when she could, she’d finally know who she was and why she was here.

Years later, after his funeral, Maya stands in the doorway of her childhood home, a forensic accountant who trusts numbers more than impossible memories. Outside, the rain hasn’t stopped. Inside, nothing feels solid anymore—especially the way she has always believed she failed him.

Then she sees a stranger and his dog moving through the downpour without a single drop touching them… and a call comes from her father’s old friends: “He asked us to show you something.”
