Gavin, Laird of Inverness, Clan Chattan, is attracted to Camden, the beautiful daughter of the caretaker of rival Clan Cameron. When Camden's father approaches Gavin in secret, hoping to work for him, Gavin agrees. But when the head of Clan Cameron, Douglas, finds out, terror reigns between the clans.

For Douglas has seen how Gavin and Camden look at each other, and his deadly jealousy erupts, for he wants Camden all to himself. As Camden's father is beaten for his secrets, Camden disappears. A desperate Gavin sets out to find her and vows he will do whatever it takes to get her back. Douglas also vows the same, and when the two men meet, it's a fight to the death to save the woman each man loves.
