Kayshon Patton is overcome with painstaking nightmares that fuel his survivor’s guilt after escaping the bullets from his father’s gun. With tainted blood, why would he ever consider anything that could add to his father’s legacy? His plan is simple, until it isn’t, when he pulls up on her in a predicament that warrants his assistance. Yet, one feisty exchange causes him to question the life plans already in motion.

Ashari Weeks has built armor around her heart and has no plans to let another man in. A flat tire amid a thunderstorm forced her to meet a man who was determined to change her mind. A monthly lunch date with her godfather detours everything she thought she wanted. The more she learns, the more she believes that her godfather and God should have set their sights on someone else.

Hooked on Loving Him is a tale of letting go of everything to benefit from falling in love. This is book two of the Baxter County Blues, a three-book series. Each installment will have a complete story for three men whose lives have been everything but roses and the women tasked with loving them through their challenges.

Couldn’t stop listening. Went through so many emotions, from anger, frustration to laughter. Love that Kayshon found his rib.

Narration on point!

This story is about 2 people who had to really learn to love each other and put in the work. The trauma history is heavy but it was balanced with some laughs and sweetness. James Cavenaugh is a great narrator but not for these types of books. I looked into him and verified that he is a white man and it shows in how he does his inflections with AAVE phrases and I dont give "ni@@a" passes to white people, I sure ain't cool with paying one to say it repeatedly. Im not familiar with the female narrator, she was likeable but sounds like she hasn't matured in her craft yet. I look forward to more from her.
