Addicts and alcoholics are master manipulators, and they constantly seek enablers to help them obtain and use their poison and to protect them from the consequences of their substance use. It may feel like we're helping the addict, but we're not; by enabling, we're participating in the addiction. Addicts who have an enabler are much less likely to "hit their bottom," where they're finally ready to accept the help they need.

Enabling is bad for you as well as the addict. It draws you into the addict's circle of chaos, and costs you time, money, and your sanity. In this book, I help you understand and recognize enabling behavior and differentiate between enabling and helping the addict in a productive way, and I present the knowledge and tools needed for enablers to take their life back and escape the chaos.
